The Horse Boy

I screamed his name into my sheets, the jealousy and anger streaming down my face in tears of burning pain. Darkness pulled me closer, calling my name;
that’s when I saw him, standing under the tree, his fiery red hair blazing in the sunlight..

Today a small girl came over to me as I was walking home. She looked up to me with the most amazing blue eyes I have ever seen, then opened her cracked lips and asked, while reaching out her thin arm towards me, “would you like a flower?”. I dragged my mesmerized gaze from her eyes and looked down to her pale hand, in which she held six yellow honeysuckle flowers. I wish I had been able to take a photo of the girl, it was as if I had taken a part of her soul when she handed me the flowers. They smelled as sweet as the pixie voice that crept out of her open lips, and the golden petals looked as fragile as her tiny body. Strangely, what made my day wasn’t the little yellow flowers, but the brilliant blue I saw in the eyes of that girl
